I don't actually use a sinker I use a carp feeder spring with a sinker just for a bit of weight after the bom has broken up...but I do have round ball sinkers??? How big should the ball be?

With a bait feeder/spring it should not come off. We never make the ball bigger than a golf ball size .

Carp Crazee, here are a fewpics on how I put my floatues on. According to one of the Masters in our club this is the best way (hooked through the lenght of the floatie).

The hook on the right is a #0.8 and the hook on the left is a #2.

With a dough backing. Very effective if you want a bait in the water that just lifts off the bottom in between all the groundfeed in the water and is then easily sucked in by the fish.

And this is my favourite bait. Just a small piece of dough around the hook shank. This is #0.8 hook. I normally hook the point into the bomb. This makes the whole rig section more streamlined for that extra distance when casting and the bait is right in the groundfeed as it breaks up.

 

NB: Note that in all the pics the point of the hook is exposed for easy hook-up.

Your bom is coming off cos it's not the right texture, either too dry or too moist.

Juts be careful when using the carp feeder spring as it tends to snag a lot easier than using the mushroom weight - if you're fishing a stretch of water with little or no snags then by all means...

My ratio to mix the Supercast is 1 cup water and 2 cups feed. You can use a cup or small bowl. The key here is to ensure that you give it sufficient time to set. The Supercast feed normally takes 15 - 20 min to set.

I also fish with springs. My suggestion is that you nesure that your bol is balanced. It doesnt need to be round, just ensure that the one side isnt bigger than the other side.

Aah thanks a lot guys. Naruto those pics are excellent and explain a lot.. So when casting I should stick the tip of the hook into the bom and when it hits the water it will automaticaly pop out?

i also used to have a problem with my bom especially since i changed from springs to mushrooms. ive started putting 1 small hand full of dry chick chik in which helps it bind and also leaves more feed on your "kol" as it does not break up and float like the instant feed
