Fishing Tournaments

As some of you might know the ESA SABAA Charity Bass Tournament was held at Albert Falls Dam this last weekend.  After a full season with the ESA bass season and all the other tournaments in between, it was a bit of a tough call committing to this one as well.  But a good friend of mine asked me to join him as it was for a good cause, and that’s what we did.  This was asking quite a bit from their loyal supporters as far as I’m concerned, 2 charities and a fancy dress.

Brian chose to drive all the way to the coast from Gauteng, with all the costs attached to that, have his sister make two amazing nun’s outfits and bought a ton of larger than life fluffy toys, just to fish in the ESA / SABAA Reach for a Dream / East Coast Radio Toy Story event.  I gave up fishing the final of the Jetski Triple Series offshore fishing tournament, a couple of toys and R400 entry.  A very small contribution when compared to Brian’s input, but a contribution none the less.

The tournament day with regard to organization was a bit shoddy with some guys not dressing up, and it was compulsory, and no live well checks on slip weigh 1.  But what really concerns me is where’s the conclusion to the event? -  1. The handing over the toys to east coast radio – is there an official statement by ECR?  2. How much was raised and actually given to Reach for a Dream? And is there an official statement from them?  3.  The full results of the day.

I called Guy Holmes (KZN SABAA President & event organiser) yesterday and asked for the results, he said he had already given them to Rob Fisher of ESA .  I told him that robfisher had only put up the top 6 places.  He said well that’s all there is.  I told him that that is not acceptable and I want to see all the results.  He promised me that they will be on the SABAA site by latest Wednesday (10 Dec 2008).  Well that deadline has come and gone.

Do these guys deserve our loyalty, dedication, effort, time and money?
