Fishing steenbras river near Gordans Bat

Hi All,

I will be going to the Sunbird Lodge at the steenbras river mouth shortly. Does anybody knows what to expect and what to fish for. The water looks quite deep and I thought if the water temp is ok I might findfish like, red stumpnose, poensies, leeries and yellowtail. What do you think? Is there any locals that can advise me.

All I can say is thats a very dangerous spot to fish...the water there has washed many an angler off the rocks. so be safe but there is usually fish there on right conditions. cant say what species tho.

bud u dreaming if thats what u expecting. Red Stup are in the bay but on deeper reefs and have never heard of anyone catch one from the bricks. Poensie only much further up the coast Arniston way, leerie u have a chance but strand is a better spot and yellowtail, i have never heard of pple getting them that side off the sore but anything is possible.

There are lots on ineds there, not my stuff so ask others on it, but in sure u could find a Hottie, gallie, maybe even a roman. Shad and even a cobbie is u lucky

Bushbuck is spot on. Shad and leeries in summer, maybe a rare cob after 2 days of NW. Galjoen, hotties and possibly roman in winter. But be very careful. 40m directly in front of sunbird aiming towards the Point is a reef in 18m. This is the best area to fish.
