so with the deck table set, we could start fishing.
the previous day, the wind was pumping from the south!
this obviously caused the sea to stand on its head.
this meant, that we could only fish Maphelane bay for the day as the prevailing wind "north Easter" sill had some work to do in order to get the sea back to a state we could fish in it.
Being the 1st day of the trip we did not expect fire works.
we did manage a pull on alive shad and again the nylon trace was bitten off.
this was around 19:30 at night with the turn of the tide.
earlier in the afternoon a Garrick was landed on a live shad.
another angler also had a pull on his live shad, but his braid for some reason popped.
at least we had some bait for the following morning.
we fished closer to St Lucia as walking down to Maphelane 2x times a day is wild.
especially if you are not use to plenty of exercise.
in total for 6x days we had 7 pulls (clearly not much as much more was expected.)
we did fish one morning for some Pompanos, but we did not have any luck.
the tides were all outgoing in the morning.
we had a hammerhead shark on for a while one morning on a dead shad but it too bit through the nylon trace.
one afternoon we had a nice pull on a dead shad.
the fish was pulling drag nicely when it managed to pop the hook knot.
making a figure of 8 knot on a hook shank is not advised with certain fish species, although it is a lekker knot to use which is clean and quick.....
i was warned about using the knot 20 years ago.....
and eventually it bit me!!!!!
