Niel this is correspondence from Hilto Jones (SAMSA) to Keith Hockley (Faulty) prior to SAKFA being established. All clubs who are registered with SAKFA now have a KF numbering system.

However if you do not belong to any club, there is no need for any numbering system to appear on your ski. According to SAMSA Regs.

See below

Been fishing...and this is what I found!!

Thanks it clears up my questions to SAKFA.

With regards to the plastic kayaks or tupperware brigade as they are called. These kayaks are not compliant in terms of SAMSA regs. Remember 30% boayancy is required. Hence boayancy kits can be purchased and installed into these kayaks.

The members in our club install a high density lightweight foam which is non absorbant.

This can be purchased from Bert Palmboom 0833204792

Sorry Michael, that's not entirely correct... The 'Fluid Bamba' passed with flying colours, the manufacturing certificate was accepted and after testing proved to be more than 30%... Although having said that, I'm not sure about the other manufacturers of 'tuppies'... lol.
