difficult to say!!!

I had daiwa grandwaves 40 and 50's
caught plenty of eds on them.

then I moved over to shimano torium 30 and again I have caught fish on them.

still have a daiwa saltist 40 which also caught fish.

the reason why I moved over was the daiwa spools popping due to braid.

1. Daiwa Dogfight 8000h
2. Shimano Stella 20k

Penn torque II 9500, gets the job done.

Penn from 49 to Spinfisher they catch lots

Shimano is the only contender.. When in doubt, buy Shimano. Doesn't matter which one, buy the most expensive Shimano you can afford and you will win. Penn a damn close second.

100% agreed Shimano all the way (without sounding like a fanboy).
Daiwa have one or two damn good reels as well (saltiga over trini everyday of the week)
Penn a bit less refined but solid reels.
