Fishing raggie

Look I don't know the raggies.. but at times of the year I can't slide a bait out to the cobbies without the pesky raggies picking u up and biting off all my trace and stuff..it is NOT that time of year now..It is also not the time for the cobbies although some small ones came out there 2 weeks back. All the action should be at the mouth of the Gamtoos now which has just been breached.. Fishing in your part of the world is very dymanic, you have to adjust to what is going down and where the fish are and what is around..
I saw the alcocks and others were saving fish that were trapped in shallow blind portions of the river while trying to get back out to sea, what a difference to what I experienced in Ape Town years ago with the sandvlei estaury and everyone and their dog trying to gaff or foul hook fish trapped in the shallow blind mouth and take them home!
Ja anyway if you are after in-eds, book a day with Theo's son Josh. Theo and josh can fish anything with the best of them but Josh is the shark superhero..That ou can catch big sharks like no-one else..
When nothing is biting, you can always go flyfish or spin a day with him too in the estauries including kabeljous or go nail the bass in one of the dams around that no-one really seems to bother much so they not shy..Lots of options round there always, but always changing..you have to learn the local conditions and adapt and at worst case go fish the rivers or dams LOL..always something to catch though..Same where I fish, last few sessions the conditions were shocking but caught big gallies, saw crackers come out, caught shad, steenies, blacktail for the pot..missed/lost a few fish, all the while saw people giving up and going home or catching niks but luckily I been learning from experienced folks and even though they laugh at me and say" what you catch nothing again" everytime I see them after a fish, I have actually been catching and have more fish that I can eat and have been sharing withthe neighbors, and releasing most of what I catch..So ja you just have to put in the time and learn when you are wasting your time and when to change it up and go somewhere else and fish for something else or when fishing is a waste of time and surf or go play laser tag rather!

But ja just going into the shop and "getting a few items" to really just pick Theo's brain and get some advice would teach you more than I could in pages of advice here..Local knowledge is key and knowing your target species and seasons and waters and why is key..Matric geography you best friend.
