I am very priveledged to have this piece of river (valsriver) on my dad's farm in the freestate.  Whenever I get the change we go and fish.  Its not very wide but there is a little section where it opens up a bit more, about 30 metre's across and I normally fish there.

I have landed nice size fish including barbel (14kg) carp (7 to 8 kg) yellows (5kg) muddies and even once a bass tapping for barbel with a leadhead.

Last year October I prepared a barbel attracter (maize, blood, chicken, fish etc) and I could only fish with one rod, no rodholder, I would through in and just hold the rod in my hand waiting for the barbel to pick up the chicken liver, cricket etc.  Unfortunately no mosters this specific trip, I guess I had tens of barbel in that spot and the big boys couldnt get to the bait, will post more photo's

I am glad to say I am now a participating member of Sealine, I was always watching all you guys posting.  I will end of today with this photo depicting a lovely winters morning at the fishing water, not knowing what's going to happen next.

Now that I have sorted this site, I will upload more picks in the coming days.

Guys no replies from sealine members, come on talk to me!!

I dont even know if I am posting at the right place?

Anyway, lets go....

Another farm session, where I really did well with a little feeding spot for the cats as previously explained.  Before I get the fish care speech, let me just state from the start that is one of my priorities to look after fish and I really never put fish in a net, however having said that every now and again, on the farm only, I keep some fish for the workers which they really appreciate.  I will not take any yellows out or any carp 6kg's plus, and yes I am one of those cat crazy fishermen, and as we all know a small carp / muddie  head works the best, and yes I use them for bait, when needed!!!!

Tiny!

I fish about 5 meters from the opposite bank towards the bare patch and the reeds, I have scouted by smimming the entire section of the river I fish, and that bank consists of rather solid ground gradually getting deeper for about 7 to 8 meters where it then drops into the river section, most of my success is just putting the bait out on that bank before it's hits the deeper river section.

Most of my cats are however caught on lure tapping alond the reeds with leadheads or small frog imitations.

Hi Tiny

Nice Photos.

You have posted in the Sealine Admin Team sub forum . You would get a far better response if you posted this in the freshwater section.

Regards
