FISHING PERMIT

Hey guys
Well my fishing permit expired and i need a new one.
But i was wondering about a few stuff...

1. Bass is being seen as an alien specie and they want to get rid of them, do i still       need a fishing permit then, cause that the only specie i fish for.

2. Do you need a Permit for every Province that you fish in?

3. I fish allot in the vaal and if ive got a gauteng permit, well then im not alloud to fish on the opposite side of the vaal,cause thats freestate?

4. If i fish with no permit what will the fine be?

5. If your part of SABAA do you still need to get a fishing permit.

I feel dumb asking these questions but where else would i be able to find out.
Sorry for all the questions, but i know there is allot of oomies met duk brille in this forum, that can help us!!

Does Not matter what you fish for so long as you have a rod you must posess a Licence.

2. Do you need a Permit for every Province that you fish in?
For those provinces that have licences - Yes - it is rumoured that there is going to be one national Licence Like the salties have that will be availble from any post office - currently this is just a rumour

Technically this is the case but so long as you remain on the water you can fish with just one licence - provided you got your watercraft COF licence.....

4. If i fish in the north west with a gauteng fishing permit or with no permit what is the fine, and can they fine me?

Yes and it is very very stiff - in the region of 5 -50K they also have the right to confiscate all your kit on site

Yes - permits are goverment thing and all are required to subscribe to the laws.....

I really hope they bring a national permit out.
Defo will get my permit again before i go out

Just a simple note, if an official asks for your license and you dont have one, they HAVE to give you the oppotunity to buy one from them. If they cant supply one, it is deemed unavialable and can do nothing.

So if you get asked just say, I tried everywhere to buy one but no one had any and the PO were out of stock of forms, can I buy one from you please..... ;-)

Basslover you are based in Gauteng, if you are able to find one please advise where. I havent had one since the early nineties....

I always buy it from my local tackle store.but the thing is they dont always have for all of the provinces and i do fish allot in the north west too...

These things have become a bit of a urban myth. I know its “the right thing to do” but I have in all my year of fishing never been asked for one. I don’t have one and I don’t think anyone I know has one either.

Good to know you can buy from the officers as well. Always good to know there is a back door for when the fit hits the shan.

but is it an urban legend as well last time I saw an officer asking for licenses was at vogels dam when I was kid. Thats when you used to be able to buy them at just about any tackle shop.

I was asked about 2 month's ago in North West province when visiting a dam near brits (45km outside).
Loskop they are now checking permits and another dam near Carolina they are also asking for permits - boys it is comming but agree - locating the permit distribution centre is a problem........
