Yes - but it does not seem they are being enforced as they have a problem with distributing them

i know you need them for florida lake and ruimsig , and they do check up on ppl, silly really as this is the metro teaming up with private land owners and yacht clubs to stop ppl getting close to there water,, last i heard of a permit being issued was about 7 years ago from my old graft at anglers corner in randburg,

Western Province you must have 1, they check you every now and then

i was checked at Roodeplaat dam a year or two ago, didnt have one but was able to buy one there and then, no problem

I know this is the fresh water section, but I went to St. Lucia earlier this year and I had my fishing license with me. The parks people came round and checked licenses. Mine was fine, the guy next to me wasn't. But he was also an Italian on holiday. He didn't know better. The parks guys took all his fishing gear(which wasn't much it was one of those R300.00 type combos) but still. Why can't you just buy one on the spot? I am pretty sure he just didn't know.
