Those guys r legends of league fishing I argue not but that's league hey

I know some guys that r true masters of their art. Buut no one will recognise them cause they don't seek the limelight.

Uncle mike pautz is legend my uncle geoff shaw introduced him to fishing and from there he grew. Collin scheepers is also a legend everybody knows that name he's got a brother who can also fish really well. What about the dell brothers ? There's soo many

And one day 'DUIF' may also be a legend at sumn. Who knows

One of the guys that doesn't fish rock and surf but for me has been a fishing legend is George Rodecanarcy must have caught more fish than most in a lifetime and the late Brian Peterson who I learnt a lot from. Please fell free to add names of any anglers and memories anywhere in the country that deserve mention in this thread.
Its to honor and bring back memories of these legends. Its a place for people to be mentioned however controversial that have made a mark in the fishing world.

Agreed, George Rodecanarcy is one of the true fishing legends, also the Sereni brothers, the Swannel's...

Who can forget the monsters all of these guys caught off the rocks on kite! they were all rock and surf anglers too, in fact some of them covered all aspects of fishing, fly, fresh, rock and surf, river, deepsee, big game, all species on bait and lure, monster shark, etc, etc, etc... That to me is a TRUE FISHERMAN!!!

Tony and his brother have made a big contribution to fishing and still do Tony spends a lot of time guiding at nationals and passing on the wealth of knowledge to the other provinces and younger anglers. He is still fishing like a champ in the leagues and finishing at the top. Tony was probably one of the anglers that was unlucky to never receive Protea colours that deserved to be in the team.

John Pledger is one of the biggest legends for his continued contribution to the sport as President of sasacc  the governing body of all the angling facets in South Africa for all he has done for fishing in the country. He also heads the SAFTAD group the importers of all our fishing products into South Africa.

I was honored to be able to sit and chat to John Pledger at last years show. It was a fantastic experience to hear his thoughts on a wide range of subjects. His passion for angling, all facets, is awe inspiring!

At our recent EP SASAA prize giving Uncle Johny Van Niekerk received a team award at the age of 85 he is the oldest participating angler to still be fishing the SASAA league.

Uncle Henry Melvile also received his 50th provincial cap on the same night and was the youngest angler to receive Springbuck colours for fishing in South Africa. My son Daniel aged 9 was privelaged enough to be photographed with both of them after being selected for the under 16 EP side to fish in next years Junior nationals to be held in Port Elizabeth. He is also the youngest angler to have won a under 16 section in the country and as far as I know the youngest to have received provincial colours in SA at the age of 9 a very proud moment for any father. He was very privelaged to have shared the moment with these two fishing legends.

I would like to mention fishing legends myself, such as my uncle Anre De Villiers may he rest in peace, who was the first and only South African this far to win the wrangular angular national bass fishing competition in 2006. I would also like to mention my own oupa, Boetie Thiart who himself has won his Western province colours 12 times, his Pretoria colours twice and he was awarded a honorary life provincial membership award by the Western Province Bass Angling Association. Which is just a few of his impressive achievements. A true legend just like the rest of the members that were apart of the Peninsula Bassmasters.
