Thus ones with the white handle that come in the white plastic shealth what you can hook on just about anywhere - long thin blade very sharp lol I caouldnt be more vague if I tried but for the life of me cant remeber the name

Hi guys,

I find that a Rambo knife works best, because you never know when you'll get lost and the compass at the back can save your life. And if something else happens:dunno1, you can always use the McGafters concealed on the inside to your advantage…:lol:1

Hey guys, i've been through many knives from the shogun, Nikkei, diving knives and all others... And i've come to realise that a knife is as only good as its sharpner...so i own one of those white handled knives that Raggie is talking about(its really sharp, when new), and i bought a sharpner that is more expensive than the knife itself, and its an excellant combo... The knife sharpner is called the "blade runner", and its brilliant... The knife is available at any good tackle store and it costs between R80-R100... No matter which knife u but its going to dull, so invest in a good sharpner!!! Hope this helps!!

I'll second mels opinion here. Any knife that is properly sharp works a treat. I learned to use an old fashioned oil stone for knife sharpening. If you have the right range of stones in terms of grit it is possible to sharpen a knife to a point where you could shave with it.
For fishing, one ideally wants a thin(read flexible) bladed knife which is fairly narrow and a blade length of about 20cm. This is ideal for cutting fillets etc.

I use a similar knife but with a blue handle.
bought the Wasthog V Sharpner and it works like a dream. It stands upright so you just pull your knife through the sharpner about ten times and these you are a knife so sharp you but the skin off a filet of sardine.
No need for different stones. you can also set the angles on the sharpner to suit your knifes blade.

This one works perfect for me, you can carry it in your tackle box and sharpen it at the water or when you feel the need, just pull it through 5 or 6 times and its good to go.

Hey Skaap Tjop, thats the right stuff, i have a similiar one, but a different name, it works wonders and is absolutely safe to use, and it makes a knife lightening quick...and its light to carry... Try it guys...u'll be really happy with the results...The worst combo on a day out fishing is a dull knife and a soft sardine...AAAARGH

Hey mel..who were the lucky ones who got the 2 knives at vidal?? It is such a brilliant knife cos it has just the right amount off flex so u can really do some accurate filleting with it..and is the sharpening took u using the same as the one in the picture posted..

Hey master i have a similiar one, just not the same brand, the one i have is called the Blade Runner, it works on the exact same concept though and has the same carbide steel sharpening mechanism...and it is brilliant...it gets a knife as sharp as a razor...really good

Raggie those white knifes make is Zest and it is quite a S##t blade as it's always causing S##t between me and the wife when I want to go fishing and she doesn't want to give my knife back. This is really a good blade compared to a lot of other knifes I had.
