Fishing in MAfikeng

howsit guys, so i havent been here for a while been too hectic for fishing, now that im back i must tell you guys that ii had tried out 3 trips to mafikeng fishing, disaneng being one of them!

i must tell you guys it was a brilliant trip, really enjoyed it, caught very well, lots of Carp, caught about 18 of them and the smallest one was about a 2kg up to a 4kg, lots of fun, only the destination is a bit far!

i have tried for bass, and kurper with no success, can anyone advise me what works well, i am going there in a few weeks again if anyone is around you may join!

also i would like to know if there are any good bass spots in and around pretoria, havent managed to find a nice safe place to enjoy some bass!!

Don't know much about the venues in Mafikeng but a good bass venue will be buffelspoort dam. It is relatively safe and the boom gate is guarded 24/7

do you have to go out with the boat? or can you fish from the banks?>

You can fish from the banks but a boat will be suitable as the dam delivers great catches on the opposite side. Note that the dam is very popular for ski-boats and jet-ski's which sometimes can be very frustrating ..I believe another good spot for bass is Swartruggens dam. I am going there on Saturday and will report back on my session.

oki guys, so i went this weekened to disaneng, to be more precise, i left at about 5.30 on saturday morning, we started fishing around 6.30am!! to our disapointment this trip at disaneng we caught no carp, not even any bites, the weather was quite good, we did catch 2 bass though, both under the 1kg mark!! sad fishing day!!

on sunday however i decided to try modimola,across the mafikeng airport, i only went at 2:30pm and fished until about 6, in that time we caught 10 carp, and 1 bass! there was lots of kurper as well which we did not catch, the bigger of the fish was about a 2.5kg down to under a kg, but very quick and good fighters!

just thought id give an update incase anyone is going that side, u have an idea!!

Which side of Disaneng did you go to. I found that at the overflow side was the best or on that side you could even try the old army camp site it is nice and has got some lawn and trees

You can give Rietvlei dam neer Irene also a go. Safe to fish there. You need a permit for the dam. Think you can buy at tackle stores. Not been there for ages.
