Bennie, you say that you sound around looking for the fish. What is the max speed you can travel at to find fish. I ask this because when I'm on my way to a spot, I don't see any fish along the way. Depending on the sea conditions, I do about 15 knots. When I stop I see fish, but I cant spend the whole day going, stopping, going, stopping.
What I want to do is get to a desired fishing area, say 5 square Km, and cruse around sounding till I see them and then start fishing. I have a Garmin 520s. Maybe my settings are wrong? And yes I have read the manual but I'm still battling.
The other day I went hunting cob, but couldn't find any. The next day someone told me that they have been catching cob all week in the same area I was sounding. Either I'm going too fast, my settings are wrong or I'm just doff?
So what I'm asking is how do you go about actually finding these critters.
