Which model??

Assuming you have a motor, it must have a transom, which means its easy to make a removable bracket for your tranducer. You  get quite a few portabe fish-finders, which pretty much stay in their box, so your only problem would be a battery.

My buddy ran his off a rechargable battery he bought at 'Brights Electrical'. Small, weighs very little and is rechargable.

Hope that helps!!

Sage,

Fishfinders generally come with the bracket for mounting to the transom. But if you don't want to drill onto the transom I suggest buying a cheap pair of 'sucker' type rod holders you would put on the roof of a car. Just mount your transducer bracket to the 'rod holder' then hold it on the desired position on the transom and flip the 'sucker' lever.

You also get a item called a through hull Transducer basically it is applied to the inside of the hull and works through the hull og the boat be it PVC or fiberglass.
There are advantages and disadvantages to this however.
