I'm going to be attempting the installation of my fishfinder this week and would like to know if their are any tips that I should know about?

One thing that specifically has me stumped is how to run the cables under my deck, I have below deck tubing just not sure how to feed the wires all the way through. Is there a trick to this??

thanks in advance!

try using some heavy leader or a fish tape and push that through first then cable tie your sounder cable to it and pull it back through, the rest is fairly basic.

Great thanks for the reply.

My next question ,do I just connect the power cables straight to the battery or do I need to add a fuse to the circuit or perhaps something else??

Also, my boat is a cat that gets beached regularly, I'm worried about the transducer getting knocked off, any tips here. The transducer is not a thru-hull model.

Use some stiff wire, bend the end over so it doesn't poke into everything. Feed it through. Then tape the cable onto the end and pull it back.

If you find there is a bend you cant get past here it an old electricians trick.

Use 2 pieces of wire, bend the ends over and push one from each end. Then when they get to the bend, rotate them in opposit directions. They will lay over eachother and when you pull one, it will hook onto the other pulling it with.

You should recieve a fues with your unit. It is important that you fuse it before the switch. I do recommend a switch as well. If you install the fuse befor the switch, it protects the switch as well.

What unit have you got. Most are designed to fold up if they strike something.
