Sorry did not have my camera with me but while diving in Mossel Bay I saw a fish that I have never come across before. Will try to explain fish as best I can and if you think you know what I am talking about please post pictures or just the name of fish. -Fish was around 35cm long with short, fat body and a narrow tail almost like a puffer fish of sorts, big head and mouth with fat lips. Fish was definitely family of a grouper or rockcod. Fish was very lazy and I could touch it and feed it red bait while it just lay on the rock. Could easily be caught by hand. Can't find it in any books but it looks a bit prehistoric. It's head looks alot like potato bass but with a short, fat body and narrow tail. Could it be a stone fish species.

Help will be appreciated
Thanks

Sounds like you may be describing a Rocksucker fish (Chorisochismus dentex)?

The fish I saw could definitely be family of the rock sucker. Shape of body definitely looked like second fish, but with bigger lips and head. Fish was brown in colour. More info on this species.

Have a look at this post: http://www.sealine.co.za/view_topic.php?id=20684&forum_id=1&highlight=Rocksucker, specifically aquadementia's post (No 7) as it provides a bit more info.
