Howzit going guys received this in an email, was caught offshore of st. lucia, the person who sent me the email said it is a Tiger Fin Rockcod, does this specie perhaps have another name as I have never heard of it! Thanks
Yeah i thought about that, arent the spots a bit too prominent for it to be a tomato? It looks like a massive coral trout to me but im pretty sure they do not get that big...
Not that I have ever seen a Tomato Rock-Cod,but ,and I quote ""The prevalence and prominence of certain colourations in species, can be directly attributed to the state of activity , upon or prior to capture''
Its a Golden rockcod (Cepalopholis aurantia) sometimes confused with C nigripinnis. They also known as Orange rockcods, their colours vary from red to orange to gold and are rare in our waters according to Smith's
Def not a tomato rockod coz the tomato rockod has a more stubby shape body like a yellowbelly ....this fish is more elongated very close to a catface just different colour...or maybe it is a catface but he just probably ate too much pink prawn n crayfish...lol
