First tuna trip

Hammertime

All I know is the fish in the pic is a yellowfin.
Caught on a day when most guys came home empty.

10kg or 100kg well done to the angler for pulling off what I certainly didn't get right on the same day. Which in the end makes me jealous.

On the ORI conversion table.

I have done a measurement on over 20 fish and a weigh on a good quality approved scale.
The ORI table is normally 5-10kg heavier or at least that has been my finding.
The down side is good scales are so damn expensive.

I'm sure most people have carried a few bags of cement over the years. That's 50kgs - and a good benchmark. My other benchmark to estimate smaller weights is the good old papsak (5kg)!!

HT, I am with you re the weight. 25 about the right ball park. Caught lots that size but never bigger. A fish is a fish none the less and a great catch when no-one else gets anything.

Remember you must think of the bag "outside the box" when it comes to papsak estimates. I believe that is where the saying comes from... LOL

Eish, remember Mossel Bay, 18 years old, "dont worry be happy" was the name of the papsakke we drank, felt very good....for 20 minutes, after that downhill all the way lol.

I agree with HT, if that fish weighs 25 kg , its 25 kg more than the one I caught.
