First shot a spearing

So today me and my dad went to sea point. We checked out a bunch of places and finally decide on going to the ramp (opposite the bp) as we went down there to check it out we met i scuba diver and spearfisher who said that the viz was to bad today to see anything. Even though we knew that we probably would not see anything we jumped in with the gun. We swam out and had a look around for potentially good spots.
But other than harder, a huge klipvis and bait fish we saw nothing shootable to no surprise.
Still it was real good that we went out and the scuba diver told us the it would have cleared up by Saturday.

By the way grunter i took the gun to Louis at Rabitech and he shortened the gun, fixed the cord release, put some cord on it and put a piece of rubber which connect the gun to the cord (forgot what its called).

So hopefully we will be back by Saturday for another try.

Is that canoe ramp the right place to do it?:

Hi Sebastiaan,

Glad to see you managed to get in for a dive.The ramp area is a nice entry/exit point for novice divers and if you swim out to the right (lighthouse) area,you will find some pieces of wreck there and some nice fish.With the strong SE that is blowing the water should clean up a bit and is also surprisingly warm at the moment,so the weekend should have some nice diving around the Atlantic side even though the swell will jack up a bit.

Hi Sabastian

glad you managed to make use of  the gun , funny i was planning a dive sea/p before work but saw the viz and decided to have breakfast instead. I normally get in more towards the thermopali wreck but i am sure you shuld get fish all allong there.

I tried again on sunday.
When we were spearing at the ramp a man told us that there were loads of hottentot at granger near the power boat club so we gave it another try there.
Firstly as we got in the viz was once again rubbish and the water was freezing and all i had was my dads wet suit which he brought when he was 20, so it was many sizes to big and you can barley move in it.

Any way i am going to wait until this wind dies down until i try again.

I went diving at Cape Point, saw some small hotties. nothing big but i did have some galjoen come sit on the end of my speargun! funny how they know it's not season and they come out to tease you! got some nice crays tho.
