First Catch on Fly at Vaal (Parys)

Hi all

Went to parys with my girlfriend this previous weekend and managed to get an hour or so fishing time Hooked only this one ( not sure if its a proper smallmouth or a "muddie" because i dont know the difference its my first time fishing for yellows.) Also i didnt have a scale so couldnt weight the fish.

Beautiful Largemouth Deon, well done! Did you get him fishing streamers or nymphing for smallmouths? I'm envious, been fishing for more than 10 years for yellows and still have not got a legit largemouth

I was nymphing where the stream meets a deeper pool then goes into a stream again. Wasn't really just targeting smallmouths, but any yellow actually. It was my first time fishing in the vaal so dont really know the spots and techniques. Think it will be better with a guide next time. Hope you get some luck. where are you fishing?
