First Cape Town fish

Hi guys

I've been living in Cape Town for about 6 months now but unfortunately don't get much fishing done.  I went twice on the weekend however (first time targeting edibles) and managed this Gallie of 38cm FL, 41cm TL on the West Coast.  The fish was not released.

Tackle used:  Purglas 350/6, 20/40 loaded with 0.50mm line and a 1.1mm leader, 7oz sinker.

Bait: White mussel on a 2/0 mustad

If anyone was wondering, its the only outfit I currently have with me so I'm doing what I can with it!

The fish couldn't even move my sinker, I just saw my line making a bow lol. It was much like catching a small sandy on a lighter rig.

Yeah Kopstamp, I have to say, I was pretty impressed with the distance I got. I'm keen to see what's going to happen with a lighter leader and thinner mainline!

Well done Marius

Guys don't be fooled he's an Ex-PE local and has tons of fish under the belt.

I'm just curios to see whe he planted that sinker because I saw whwere he landed a 9oz on his 400/3 and then where he casted a 10oz on my 350/7, Trini 50 0.60 Big Game and 1.5mm windon off the rocks at Something Good

Marius if you don't MAKE TIME for Fishing then there won't be time in your line of work.

A fat healthy Gallie like that must surely have sizzled on the Braai
