Finally filled my wetsuit

So I finally went on my first "proper" dive last week. It has been a long time of umming and ahing (and not being allowed to dive due to stitches and what not).
The dive wasn't all that great but being out there was fantastic! A friend and i were diving on Vetch's as we had seen some good size blacktail, zebras and a grunter or two a few days earlier while snorkeling there and it is nice and calm there to start.
The vis varied from 4 to 2m, my newly formed mow made my mask leak (and it's itching but it's for a good cause) and all the larger fish that i saw snorkeling a few days before had magically disappeared. So anyway, we didn't shoot anything but the bug has bitten and the fire inside has been lit. will be out there again soon :::S

The other bad news was on the trip back home i decided to pop in at kingfisher just to "look around". upon changing lanes to work my way across i got klapped from behind, spun around, got klapped head on and spun back around to face the right way again.... yip, first crash and at least two cars totaled (mine included).
So, i am now car-less, alive...Thank you Lord, and only mild injuries prior to university exams... so no diving for awhile...

This brings me to my actual questions:
I need a pair of new fins. I'm stuck for the moment in maritzburg so i need a little help with prices if possible. i currently have a pair of bright blue cressi rondinella fins but they flex a bit too much and they are quite short. but wow are they comfortable =)
I need recommendations from you guys. I love the cressi brand (for some unbeknown reason) but i want to look at the rob allen couta plastic fins, omer milleniums, cressi 3000ld and 2000hf, free divers plastics an any other brand worth mentioning?
size 44-46, my feet are quite wide but not paddles

So if you guys could please give me an idea of the best fins to buy and the best place to buy them i would greatly appreciate it
I am mostly shore diving with the occasional ski dive, but this is still in the pipeline.

Happy hunting and remember the greatest danger is getting too and from the diving grounds, not the diving itself
God Bless*:wfish

Hi Mad Mike....welcome to the dark side

As a mostly shore diver I firmly believ in lekker hard wearing plastic blades then I dont have to nurse my blades.

Cressis are awesome but I found them to be very narrow. m2c

I also just purcased som Rob Allen Coutas, ASAIF they are an exact copy of the Picasso Black Teams of old. Which re very poplar blades. Nice and wide footpockets.

If you are very new, have a look at the Immersion E-Black aka JB Esclapez, it is a very soft blade but extremely comfortable and not to expensive. Footpockets are crazy soft. I had mine for 3 years with no problems.

Also best tip ever join Blue Spearos. We are ne of the biggest diving clubs in SA. No joining fees. You will instantly get access to around 170 guys that dive all around SA. A lot of info at your fingertips!! Just send a mail to bluespearos@gmail.com

Enjoy!!
