Felt for trailer

Hi,

I have a cat hull boat and the centre beams on the trailer is covered by some sort of felt material for protection of the boat.

I now need to replace this, but have no idea where to find a similar material or which glue would be best?

Can anyone maybe help....?

Thanks

If it is a flat surface go to Maizeys plastics and buy strips of poly-ethelene. It is much better than felt and will last for a very long time. You can put them on with countersunk bolts and nuts. It works like a charm.

Carpet has no place on trailers but if you are stuck with that.....Strip the old material off. Chances are it has been put on with contact adhesive. If it is tough Genkem make a contact adhesive stripper. Check the steel underneath and repair if needed. Then use a type / brand of carpet called Ozite. Easily available and just glue the new material on with contact adhesive.

Most of the boat shops carry sleeper felt. I bought a 10m roll of 75mm yesterday in Polokwane. Not sure about Cape Town but I reckon just about every boat shop will have stock.
