Hi everyone.

I was just wondering what all the guys favourite sharks and flatfish are. Luckily our coastline offers a huge variety but like cars we all love certain fish for certain reasons.

Before I reveal my favourite it must be known that I have not caught all these species.

Obviously size does matter but I think the fight and photogenic qualities count too.
My favourite is the Duckbill. I have caught a decent Bronzie,Raggie, Blacktip as well as
grey sharks. As far as flat fish I have only got a marble other than the common lesser sand sharks and the Duckbill. Off the boat I got a big Zambie but this thread is specifically from the shore.

I love the Duckbill for its amazing power and surprisingly fast runs. Such a gentle creature and a bugger to get over the lip of a sand bank.

On my bucket list is a big Grey, giant sandie and a black Pyle and don't forget the honeycomb.

We are very lucky we have such variety in RSA. Never a dull moment and you never know what will grab your bait. A Tiger and big hammer are both mean machines and are dream fish. Dreams do come true.

The warm waters of northern kzn seems to be the place for most of the dream species. The Tiger, Zambie, giant sand shark, a large hammer and honeycomb are most likely to be found there off our coast. When last was something unusual like a sawfish caught?

If you want stubborn I would go with a Zambi. Although a grey can be a hand full to.

For pure speed I haven't come across anything like a giant sandie. Mine wasn't the biggest can only imagine a 100kg plus one.

Still on my bucket list is a BIG duckie and over 100kg blackfin.

A tiger .... Well there's always dreaming.

I myself have not caught a lot of ineds. Plenty Brown Stingrays, and one proper Greater Sandshark last year.

To land a nice big inedible from the beach for the first time was an amazing experience. Tried many times and when you eventually get picked up it is such a rush.

I'm gonna say Greater Sandshark because from my experience it is all I have got.

It ran many times every time I brought it to the shorebreak. It is a great fighter!
