Fast action Fly rods

I've always thought the Horizon range of rods to be exceptional value for money, with great actions... plenty fast enough... granted they not up there with the Sage TCR's and such in fast actions, but plenty fast enough for me, and I like fast action rods...
What kinda fishing you looking to do? Mainly fresh or salt? Mix of the two?

Check the TFO (temple Fork outfitters)some very good rods in the collection from the Pro range up to the Axiom range

As Nepps says the horizon Range of sticks are fantastic they are based on the sage.If you are looking for a power stick i would look at the Horizon 5# 9 ft XRS very similar to the sage TCR and very good value for money , you break section they replace for a nominal fee. Speak to Brett or Dean at frontier fly fishing in Bryanston in JHB they will sort you out.

My money would be on the TFO's. They have a very complete range that will suit almost any casting action. I have a 5# TiCrX and its a fast stick and a amazing casting rod. There backup service is of the best as the distributors, optimax are based here in PTA.
The biggest thing when buying a rod is cast it before you buy. What suits me will not necessarily suit you so try them all out.

Like the guys have said, you will need to match it to the fish you target, if its salt and you need to chuck a big fly, then the TFO TiCRX is the wax to go, the Axiom is VERY fast and I think some guys will battle with it in the beginning.
The TFO TiCRX range is a very powerfull rod, you can easily land fish bigger than you want on a lighter rod. We in south africa is under the impression that you MUST have a 8wt+ for any saltwater. There is no more fun than chasing 50-70cm size leeries on a 6wt, and I can tell you now, you will even be able to land much bigger fish than that on 6wt. If you are going to use it for the odd holiday salty action in some estuaries, then get a 7wt, it will cast the right flies and you can land a decent size fish on it. Plus you can use it for the largies and the yellows on the Vaal.
