This past week I went fishing with my dad next to the Vaal dam.
In the space of three days I improved on just about every one of my personal bests.
Most fish, biggest carp, yellow and barber.
All in all, over an intense 3 day period, I caught over 60 fish. 12 Yellow, 1 Barber and the rest Carp.
Beyond any doubt, the best session I've ever had.
My hands were scared, nicked, cut and scraped to the point where I gave up on taking hooks out of the fishes mouthes, by Thursday morning I resorted to cutting the hooks in two with a side cutter, then proceeded to remove both ends with pliers, so that I wouldn't have to handle the fish to much.
We didn't have a scale, so I don't have accurate weights, but by size alone I could tell. None of these fish were anything spectacular, none of them would make anyone go "Wow!", but the sheer amount and size of them, tell me that I've entered a new sphere in fishing.
I've improved my game, by an order of magnitude. With any amount of luck I'll be able to practice more and start getting the real woppers soon.
