Exage 110H

I always thought Shimano was being rediculous saying that the Exage 110H can cast 250g. The rod just felt to lite.

Well I tried an 8oz sinker on my Exage 110H this afternoon, casted it no problem. Distance +- 100m. Reel was a Torium 20 and Kingfisher GA 0.4mm line and a 0.7mm leader. So I suppose it will be possible to cast to the stated 250g with it. I won't be worried at all now to throw big plugs using 0.5mm line with the rod. It should be able to handle size kingfish.

It didn't feel all that uncomfortable, just slowed down the swing a bit.

A 5oz sinker went further - about 110m. Didn't try very hard it should be possible to get 120-130m with the 5oz sinker.

Hmmm a bit of egg on the face!

Good news bru,I ordered the 10ft spinning and 11ft so Im sure it was a good choice.

In my earlier post I was asking which reel to go for and the sealine experts mentioned the 14 Shimano / 20 Daiwa /30 Daiwa.

So I am assuming that the 20 Torium = 40 Daiwa in Size.

I think im going for the Saltiga 30 because no one here in SA has the Saltiga 20.Spoke to Kingfisher today and they said they dont have the Saltiga 20,its a shame but I will settle for the 30 Satiga Daiwa or 14 Trinidad on my 11 footer.

Im gonna try the 10ft spinning for some Nile Perch,Hope I call pull that 80 + kg and then I put a pic on the site.

Yes the Torium 20 is round about Daiwa 40 size. Before anyone says anything, as Reefman so rightly says balance is to a degree a personal thing, it feels fine for me. I know I will be able to cast lighter lures easier with a smaller reel, but the appeal for me is one day on that dream kingfish trip I can spool it with 0.5mm line and I know the rod and reel will be able to handle kingfish. That is why I did not get a little SL20 or TN14 reel. Meanwhile I spool the T20 with 0.4mm line and manage to cast spoons for shad if the wind is not too bad.
