Howzit Ryan....

this is not to get into a slanging match or anything....but i thought the biggest tiger caught at Jozini was 11kg and the official record was over 8kg....i'm really keen to know because i want to target that dam in the future for tiger and beeeeg carp.....

i have heard rumours of 40kg carp hit with boats etc etc....
Its not unlikely that you might find big tiger, but im sure they are few and very very very far apart. think the average big size is around 5-6kgs

The average is more around 1-2kgs A fish over 3kgs is considered a good fish in Jozini.....
The biggest fish officially weighed and verified on a calibrated scale in a comp is in the region of 6.8kgs... There might be a few lurking around over this mark but I believe they are very very few and far between...
When I lived in Pongola I saw a specimen that was found floating in the dam of just over 30kgs - carp....

I have only seen 11 kg tigers in the zambezi maybe 3 or four times in 5 years of working on the zambezi - the average where I am working currently is around 6 - 9kgs - I have seen a couple over this but we normally have tackle failure before they come to the net - we are currently using 50lb braid etc....

im just teezing you oks.but seriously as soon as i can upload my pics youll see theres alot off big tigers in that dam.you guys can come fish with me and ill show you.im going to be doing charters up there soon.the trik is to fish the middle of winter inbetween 25 and 30 meters deep on the drop offs with a sun backed sardine(it gets crisp on the fleshy side and the oils draw out)just your steel trace, nice chemically sharpend hook.no sinker, some brade and florocarbon with some chuming and your sure to pick up a fatty.sometimes bucktails work on the same erias aswell but theres a way ti rig them up.next time you blokes go to the dam give me a shout ill set you strait on to them.no jokes.the nice thing is that where my spots are in the dam you dont get pestersized alot with the litle 1s,you dont catch alot of fish each day but your sure to catch a few fish over 5.i said up to 8 kgs cuz ive been on the boat with other peeps that have landed them my personell best in jozini is 6.8.we can set a date if you guys are keen.

The tigers are nice and I must say I'm glad they are trying to keep the show in SA. But what about the other species? I Mean the Artlure guys catch 9 species in a day.

ESA are you guys going to have an artlure/ multi species show? The response on "Hier gaan ons alweer" doing a carp and Barbel on artlure show was massive. But again only the" klop" method was shown for barbel. What about sight fishing with sinking jerk baits, buddy casting or fly fishing for these species.

Added to fact that these shows only show limited fishing methods that artlure guys use on a regular basis,  these shows only show the main species Tigers, Carp and Barbel and Bass being caught.

What about Kurper, All nine Yellowfish species,  Moggel and the dwarf species. I bet most angles in SA does not even know 2 dwarf species if they see them.

This only discusses the artlure side of things, what about the species angling guys.

I would luve to see ESA diversify there very set angling methods. Plus they always show an ESA Pro teaching a guest angler. I think they should get the pros in the field of each angling Fraternity to show the esa guys how to do it. It that way they can teach us at the same time how to catch.

Seeing guys haling in tiger every 5min does not teach me a thing, A pro telling me what he is doing while he is doing it teaches me how to fish better.

Woo-woo.....

Little tiger Junky - clearly if you turned down a job on the zambezi for Jozini then you truely live up to your name......Bwahahahahahahahahahaha
I am on the Zambezi for the full fishing season 7 month's....
Seems like there is always a bit of a story with your "Big Tiger fish from Jozini" starting to sound like BULL......

Monster - fair comment - I too would like to see more on the show....We watch it when the opportunity shows...

Oooooooooo I can't wait.....
I have over 300 5kg+ tigers caught since the end of April....

The zambezi is a seriously KAK place to go fishing I would pick Jozini any day over the zambezi.... WHAT EVER.......

I am on the zambezi not only for the tiger, there are a myriad of other trophy species to be caught......

Look forward to your pictures but I won't hold my breath.....

While you pros can fight over who caught the biggest tigers in Jozini I will lay down a new challenge as I am convinced that I have caught the SMALLEST tiger ever in that dam on rod and reel in February of this year...now where did I store the photo.........:fst:
