Ermelo / Piet Retief / Pongola Road - Update

Friend of mine travelled that road yesterday. Ermelo to Piet Retief is great. Piet Retief to Pongola 3 or 4 stop and go's (He can't remember). The first 30 km out of Piet Retief is okay, the middle section is dreadfully bad, but the last 30 km to Pongola is new road and great.

Thats great news...going down to Vidal next week on that road. I was down there in August and there was still 8 s & g's between Ermelo and pongola. Added about 1 hour to our trip. Big up to the roads dpt to get it into shape before the holidays. So it should only ad 30-45 extra to your trip.
