Epic diving conditions

Was unfortunately not able to make the crayfish compo on Sat but a buddy of mine (oceanman) took part said it was really cool...

Went out in False Bay on Sunday and conditions was epic! Bagged some big crays and shot a few nice fishies in no time at all. Spent the rest of the day just cruising round checking out sea life... awesome!   

Pics below are frame grabs out of a video I shot, so the quality isn’t great – but will give you an idea of how good the conditions were. Most of them are in the 3-5m range.

The viz further from shore was not that great but cleaned up nicely once below the 12m mark

i have been wondering about that camera is it only a stills cam or can you take video fotage as well

It’s definitely more of a video cam – the stills it takes are only 2Meg pix. so not really great. The cam shoots in HD so to give you an idea half an hour’s footage chowed about 1.5 Gb of storage space. However, if have to say so myself the last vid came out flipping awesome!. As mentioned above, the images are frame grabs out of the video which I also resized then from 1024 x 768 and compressed for web as to not upset slower internet connections.

I’m super stoked with this cam – the only drawback being it only allows one to shoot up to depths of 3m so I pretty much just hang at the surface when shooting.

Eish, I got hammered by some of my spearo buddies about divulging too much info...

My take it’s the sea - so as long as you respect Mother Nature it should be free to all that’s willing to take the plunge...

So although not secret spot at all I’ll keep this info to myself and only pass it on via pm
