Here is a nice throw/ slide bait that I often use with success. Dont try it when the barbel and dories are loose though.
Basically you pin the mackie fillets on the elf with toothpicks and cotton tight. Pierce a hole in the elf head, slide a cable tie through and secure on circle hook. I like to use latex as it still holds nicely when the bait defrosts.
