editing of posts

May I please ask what qualifies certain posts to be edited. I am aware of the sealine rules but i dont think that the example below is one that broke any of the rules.

I recently posted the following message with the heading of "esa dvds for sale" in the buy, swop, sell tackle section :

 

"wow talk about jumping to conclusions!!!!


Anyway my mistake I should have mentioned that these DVDS  are original direct from ESA. Been a ESA member for the past 10 months and these DVDS were part of the package".

The above message was then edited (by someone other than me) to read as follows:

I would really appreciate a reply as to why the above post was edited (if for any good reason I have no problems).

We have had a few issues regarding the sale of pirate dvds on sealine. However, that does not qualify a moderator to edit your posting in such a manner.  I will get back to you, once ive spoken to the moderator responsible. Please accept my apology.

I also think that if moderators are going to edits posts it is ONLY fair that they put their names at the bottom of the edit .

That will open and everyone and see who the individual is.

To be honest I know Batisa very well and I understand why he feels bad about the edit.

@ Emperor - Thank you for the prompt reply and apology accepted fully. I do however feel that the moderator concerned should not be allowed to edit any posts in future if this is the manner in which he goes about it.

Batista, you are a gentlemen. Thank you!

Moderation is a massive task on sealine, we have had a few issues... but generally sealine moderators do a first class job considering the high volume of taffic/posting/spam/politically incorrect terms/phrases. The edit to your posting is really unacceptable and unbecoming of a sealine moderator. Right now, im not certain who is responsible, but I will address this in our discussion area, and make sure there is no recurrence.

Editing a post in that manner is unethical,demeaning and contrary to sealine policy.

I have to also mention that some of the moderators I know are well respected and liked and would not never stoop so low.

Hi i also noticed this but thought it was you Batista so i just passed it on.

The admin rep who mentioned to us to read the post was Land Locked but i am not saying it was him i am only saying that he was moderating the post by letting us know the story about the Pirate stuff on sealine.

I also agree with admin and emp to try and get to the bottom of this as many inocent people could get into trouble if the moderators edit posts and say things they shoudnt.

On the lighter side, its probably a good idea to always post a pic when you claim a big fish as any moderator can reduce your weight and length of fish but there is only one moderator who has the IT skills to shrink your fish in the pic at the same time 

PS I am not inferring moderators are average at IT just that some know IT very very WELL!

I can say with out a doubt that Land lock would not have changed your post to be malicious - Land Lock only has Sealine best interests at heart as do all the other moderators here

and if you look at the posts that have been edited there is a name of the person who edited your post

furthermore being a moderator or organizer of socials on sealine is the most thankless job there is, everybody bitches and moans about when the next social is or moderators aren't doing there jobs - well the moderators all have their own jobs as well to put food on the table for their kids and help out with saline in their SPARE time for no financial reward what so ever. Just like Emps and Admin that run this site free of charge and pay for the maintenance and running costs out of there own pocket - if you look at the stats on saline its scary how many hits this site has per month and we get to share the information free of charge
