So where from here? Does anyone know of any spots in east london.I have been hitting dry all over .Just out of East London to gulu got lucky with 2 Garrick.But i really dont know how those blind rivers there are doing after yesterdays quick storm.Damn that storm was scary.
Any help?

hey mate there is a post called any spots to go drop shot fishing in East London Somewhere around here, thats where most of us from east london chat about whats happening around here. hope that helps if you need any other help after reading that post give me a shout........

Hey ringo there are plenty spots in E.L the question is what are you targeting. Are you looking at river or sea.

Well how much information can i get from you with out being greedy.Def Garrick and game fish.But where in the rivers do they go here and for what species do they go?

okay best rivers at the moment are the nahoon and the gonubie. Both these rivers have drop offs close to the mouths so you looking for shallow water that drops off quickly the mullet hide in the shallow water and the garrick,shad cob etc wait for them to swim off the drop off and nail them. The gonubie is also very good on the full high right at the top what they call the red banks. Whe n you get to the quick spar turn left (if you coming into gonubie) at the robots carry on going straight down until you can't go anymore here you hook a right down a steep hill go all the way down to the last plot where the road turns to the righthere you park the car and walk down to river.

For the garrick you want a quick retrieve i like to give it a jerk evry so often. For the skippies a slower retrieve with frequent jerks this imitating a wounded fish. I have found that the garrick often like to play with the lure by this i mean they will smash next to the lure without actually taking it this is where you need to maybe pick up the speed of the retrievel but don't stop.there are the days where they will do this and no matter what you do they just wont feed but hey thats fishing

You could also try the gonubie point or kwelera point for garrick and shad but you wanting the water to be warm and clean look for foam on the surface the more foam the better and both of these are fished best early morning or late evening

IT guy is quite rite with the places

also give glen eden a try as well...*exact places i dont know, i fished there last december & was worth it, jis watch ur car though...heard they break in there*

Nahoon mouth, was also very successful on flatheads,& blacktails etc...this is a tidal river, so watch for the high tide...u dont wanna get caught on a river bank or rock,

Goniube river mouth, excellent place for kob, i didnt catch any though, lotsa baby sand sharks, very nice to catch

Thanks for the tips.I wil def try it this weekend.Thanks alot IT Guy.Just one more thing.Soft bait?Wil "4"minnow work.And swimming Mullet from berkley.
Coz they say the light blue minnow works the best.Is that true?

Ringo unfortunately I am not too clued up on the drop shot equipment and baits I use mainly poppers and raps when targeting these rivers. You want to have a bait that will imitate whatever the hunters are hunting so for skippies look for baits that look like Mullet same goes for garrick. For me the brighter colours on a sunny day and the dull colours on a overcast day. Just remember though its more the action of your bait that attracts the fish so vary the retrievel by changing speed aswell as jerking it more or less until you find the one that is working on the day. There is no hard or fast rule that works all the time fish being fish behave diffrently everyday so if today fast retrievel works tomorrow it may be a diffrent story today aswell as the depth of your bait sometimes they feeding on the surface sometimes they sort of in the middle water coloum so don't be scared to try diffrent things it may just bring you the fish you looking for. Lets us know how it goes this weekend. You may also want to give noweeds a shout he knows the glen eden side very well and may be able to give you some spots that side.

Glen eden you could try just off the point but works best on high tide with no wind. Have caught black tail, a blue fish and zebra of that point on drop shot. There are lots of nice little gullys all along there found a nice looking one at glen muir, on the opposite side of the bay if you going from the glen eden side.Also some info that i would like to share when they oppened the river there were kob trying to get out some as big as about 30kg so there are kob in the river if they have not left. Also i have family out at geln eden and was informed the other day of a shoul of spotties feeding and they were nice size ones, good fun on drop shot. But please if anyone does get hold of some of thouse spotties please practice some catch and release, so we can all have a turn......

HI KOEKS ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT THE GLEN EDEN RIVER ABOVE BECAUSE MY INLAWS ALSO STAY AT GLEN EDEN AND I HAVE SELDOM HEARD OF ANYTHING BEING CAUGHT IN THIS RIVER AND I KNOW IT IS VERY SHALLOW AT THE MOMENT

hey collins yes i am that was some time ago hey also had family that stayed out there got some small cob and a vice leerie there once but i have heard of guys making very good catches higher up the river by the caves nut ya it is very shallow and generally not very good for fishing that is why i could not believe my eyes when i saw the size of some of those kob
