Hi Guys

So we off to Mbotyi tomorrow!! HEEEE HAAAAA

Please can you guys let me know what the limitations are on transporting Cray's from the transkei back to Jozi?

Is there a limit per person or a limit per car?

All our licenses are in order and we know our daily catch limits per diver, but we have no idea on the limit we can transport back home?

thx

Does it mention nothing on the license?

Maybe contact the local boards and ask them before you take too much?

Found this off the WILD COAST Licenses Website:

2. Minimum size: 65 mm - measured in a straight line from the point where the tail meets the body to the tip of the spine between the rock lobster’s eyes.
3. No person may collect more than eight east coast rock lobster per day.
4. No person may be in possession of or transport more than eight east coast rock lobster at any time.
5. No person shall engage in fishing, collecting or disturbing east coast rock lobster with the use of a vessel.
6. No person shall engage in fishing, collecting or disturbing any East Coast rock lobster with a trap other than:

or
6.2 by means of baited hooks.
For more information phone: (021) 402-3911 or consult the Amended Regulations (R24 of 14 January 2000) in terms of the Marine Living Resources Act, 1998

Hopefully that helps you.

Eight per person with a valid licence.

One may not stockpile caryfish or fish. You may only be in possession of you daily limit.

8 crays per licence, remove heads & poepstring ( keeps the flesh from going black) & freeze

A bit dodgy for the law regarding size limits but surely if you keep the heads for transport purposes so if you do get stopped you can confirm size from the carapace?

Please check carefully! Not sure how many are allowed to be transported per vehicle?

ie - if there are 4 of you in the car, with valid licences - that means 32 crays in the car?

I was under the impression that you are only entitled to be in POSSESSION of your daily legal limit.

OK - I may be doff here, but I am referring to West Coast Rock Lobster - and we are allowed 4 per day - is the bag limit still 8 for East Coast crawlies? I know it was 8 in the old days.....

Cheers - RB
