Not much to report on but the cats are definitely getting a bit more active. Maybe not that eager to chomp your offerings down but the are definitely more active. Lots of rises and swirls... get an offering close and the are sure to smash it hard!
I expect my local.pond to start producing awesome catches within a week or two...so guys, get them rods and reels ready!!!

Nice fish Peter, I was actually thinking about this pond yesterday and was going to whatsapp you but all my gear is at my parent's house on the other side of town. Went through to them last night to go pick up one of my spinning outfits and some lures, if the weather looks good this weekend I will drop you a message for a session.

Cheers Ant

Lekker Peter.

The water level at its lowest I've seen it there. Apparently they're not pumping water in from the Jukskei River because of pollution levels.

Funny thing happened to me there (apart from a fall that later caused my rod to break mid fight ...).

I spooked a group of catfish that were lying underneath the muck in the corner by the pump house. One could clearly see the signs of them moving into the rest of the dam and going into some sort of barbel feeding run. A couple of small stunned carp even floated to the surface.

Was cool to see.

How do you guys work the paddletails for barbel? Hop them off the bottom or swim them?
Some guys would bounce/twitch them off the bottom but I prefer a constant retrieve along or just off the bottom...you will feel the little bumps as you reel.
