I went fishing a few days ago and with the cold water at the moment I knew there wasn't going to be much happening but it was time next to the water.
I took my edible rod with a old .60 leader, tied a trace with 2 j-hooks and casted it on the side of the sandbank with a ockie leg.
The rod was about 100m from me where I was fishing my other 2 heavy rods in a deep hole looking for a raggie.
After 40min Thea saw my rod and it was pulled flat, I couldn't hear the ratched but I was sure if my rod holder was to snap at that moment it would shoot 50m into the sea...lol
Anyway,,, long story short,,, I knew it was a flatfish with slow and constant running taking me about 300m out.
I applied max pressure on the trini 20 and the .40 line and from there on this duckie smoked me for way over a hour.
It was difficult landing it since I couldn't really leader on .60 and the tide was full with a slight drop.
Pieter my mate waited patiently giving up his fishing time to help me land my fish.
This wasn't my biggest but one of my best fights...
Now to break the 100kg barrier with a duckbill....just not on .40line
