Dropshotting

Excuse a daft question from Scotland but is the SA dropshotting the same as that in the States or is it a general term for lure fishing?

here dropshot generally means the use of soft plastic baits in conjunction with a jighead or weighted hook of sorts, whether it be minnows, worms, crabs etc....

in the states i think drop shot generally refers to using worms and grubs strung some way up the leader with a sinker/weight that bounces along the bottom...

when we start getting into other lures like spoons, jigs, rapalas etc we call it artlure....

LOL was just having a browse about and came across it by accident, a pleasent accident as well. Learning some great stuff on here which I may be able to use at home.

i didnt realise the scottish coast was any good for fishing...no offense...

Much smaller fish generally the you get in SA. Up here in the far north we do get a run of porbeagles during the winter months which run to 200kg+ but the weather limits the fishing for these.

We also get common skate from the boat and shore which can reach 100kg+. Generally though the fish are way short of those that you lucky guys get.
