Yes, in a sense you're right, but it's just so much more than only 'spinning'. As Tauruck puts it, it's "bass fishing in the sea". The main advantage with this style of fishing that one can catch so many different species - not necessarily the largest fish. It can be a real blast, and LOTS of fun.
Reread Neilg's article, and you'll begin to appreciate the scope of this fascinating form of artlure angling.

dont get me wrong, i see the concept. And i agree, i have had hours fun with fish on lite tackle, to me it is the only way to fish the lighter the gear the better, i love to use 3-6lb mono for just about all my "light" fishing, rods are made to be worked and tested that and it also, i think, shows the ability of the fisherman.

You're right. No skill in hauling out a 1kg fish on 30kg line! Skill in playing the fish separates fishermen. Where do you do most of your fishing? My mom-in-law has just returned from the UK. Apparently they're experiencing a heatwave there. Warning level 3, or so I hear.

When im in S.A i try to get a few weeks at the coast, normally we head towards uvongo/southbroom/leasure bay, anywhere down that way. But this year we are going to mapelane, looking forward to that one!!!!
And when in Jozi, just stick to Harties, just about the safest place to fish i think lol
Ja man the sun is shining like it has never before, and am i feeling it...shew got a little to much of it yesterday and the big red thing that used to be my nose is k*k sore!!!!!!!!!
