Dropshotting around St Francis

Hi guys, I'm a very passionate lure angler but the fish dont seem to notice that. I'm still a novice in the area and have only caught things like blacktail and grunter on dropshots. I've tried the spoon lot without succes. I'd very much like to start catching more fish on artificials (i've turned into a laughing stock since we bought a boat and i've been the only one catching the small fries. The rest of the crew believes in bait, and they are doing alot better than me.) and if there is anay lure anglers who fish around St Francis and wouldnt mind giving me some pointers that'll be great.

give aquadementia a pm, chris has got some good catches to his name off the boat with quite a few species on sof plastics, from chatting to him it seems a small minnow on light tackle over the reefs is good for some roman and dageraad and the odd kob.

Thanks guys, I gave Aqua a ring and he also gave me some advice. I'll be seeing about getting some new tackle (like lures and stuff). By the way berkly is a little expensive, would McCarthy do the job?

McCarthy is the bomb!!!
I caught almost all my fish on them. They have an amazing action and I'm sure the action is more important than a bit of smell.
It might be a different story if you fish static.

Thanks man, will do with the McCarthy. Aqua Reccomended using berkly for fishing off the boat, so I guess I'll have to get a bit of both! :)
The berkly camo worm works alot better than other worms though so the smell must make some sort of difference or what do you think?

The main place i'm looking to use the lures is from our boat where the water is about 25m's deep so...yea maybe the scent will be making some difference at those depths.

hey man dont try the worm off the boat the karels and steentjies are gonna destroy your day...

go minimum 3inch squids and prawns

berkleys definitely what you want for the reef dwellers. If I had to recommend 1 lure then it'd be a 3inch berkley gulp squid in sugar n spice or chartreusse

Thanks man, will do. The prawns though arent that nice. They get all their arms and legs bitten off and are then pretty useless. Scared the same will happen with the squid. Are they quite tough or durable?
