Sorry Guys,

I am sure that you are getting tired of answering questions like this but, what would you consider a "balanced" rig for a 6" sand worm? (I know that this would also depend on the what type of fish I would be targeting) But what I am intending to do is to get some 6" berkley sandworms but have no idea what size jig head I should get(1/8, 1/4, 1/2) I would also then like to add a flurocarbon leader (what weight do you suggest) and then some berkley fireline (again what weight would you suggest)

Hi Jungle

I would suggest you fish the sandworms with a 1/8oz jig, depending on the conditions. The tackle i would reccomend is a 7ft fast action rod with a line rating of about 6 to 12lb, the reel would either be a 2500 daiwa exceler or a 2500 shimano slade, spooled with 6lb fireline. A flurocarbon leader of 10 to 12lb would be sufficient for most situations.

Jungle... Christo is spot on with his advice. Personally, I use heavier Fireline 12lb, with a 25lb Varivas F/C leader.

I guess what you are saying is that I cannot just take my line from the reel, thread it through the eyes of the rod, tie it to the jig and fish like that......
