I went fishing in the end on saturday and was lucky enough to land this beautiful carp on fly. I will have to get rudolf one aswell sometime they are very strong on a lightweight fly rod.
Congrats, and double congrats, on getting a Carp (and a nice one at it) on fly, I've tried my beeeeehind off on several occasions but Carp and fly, for me is a NO GO, it's just not happening, what fly did you use?
i bought some mohair at sollys and tied the fly to look like a little peice of bread. it was beige coloured.
Worked very well when you could see the carp feeding on the bottom in shallow water. Soft cast, let the fly sink and just wait for the twich in your line.
What i did notice though is that the carp have to be actively feeding. otherwise it is a waste of time.
This one was actually swimming along the surface and a neat cast infront of him did the trick. swam straight and swallowed the fly.
Hope you get yours someday. Great fighter. Awesome fun
