Dropshot from the Surf

Hello,

For those who have drop shot from the surf,what tackle do you use?

I was thinking 9ft Fenwick or Berkley AIR matched with a 4000 Reel?

I have a 6'6 Daiwa Procaster but that is perfect for estuaries and bays etc etc.

But the surf is not that forgiving sometime like in last nights ESA show.

have had great fun with Berkley Air 7 medium/fast action rod and stella 4000 with 14lb braid and 1m fluro leader.

1 a big benefit of this setup is it is physically light so u can fish long hours plus its responsive to different actions/styles used during drop shotting

2 any fish above 3-4kg is a gas. This set up can easily handle 10kg babies

3 easily handles 1/4 to 1oz leadheads

4 versatile to use as a bait rod if u tired of drop shotting

5 also suitable to use as a live bait rod when nothing else is working

I am planning to try catch a sailie in 7 days time with this set up as a little 20-30kg sailie can be chased down with boat when line on reel runs out!
