Been considering soaking lures in anchovie oil, just need to get back into dropshot. Been enjoying R&S alot this year

The problem with soaking any soft plastic in anchovy oil, is  that the get hard!! I would love to know how gulp alive avoids that problem.

If that's what happens with anchovie oil, maybe getting rid of some of the salt in the oil would prevent the leaching of moisture. Time to go through my chemistry notes, lol. What about diluting the anchovie oil with aniseed?

Has anyone tried redbait? I am going to give it a bash. One thing is for sure - the worms will NEVER lose their smell!!!

hi

I was told today to dip your plastics in anchovie oil before throwing,I`m also looking for an alternative to gulp product although I tried them they are way overpriced sad to say......It would be nice to see the ESA guys trying some other plastics. This morning`s show when he showed us his plastics +_ 5 pkt`s at 85 rands each (R500.00) worth of bait . hmm makes 1 think

just my thoughts only

They also fish with McCarthy soft plastics, and you also get a "camo" and "blood" worm from Mr McCarthy

dip it in some sauce (or should I say store it), very light jighead, throw in the gully and retrieve VERY SLOWLY

Enjoy

My buddy in the States says he keeps the bag from the Gulp plastics and puts his other stuff in there and it works.

You could always buy the gulp spray for R120, it lasts quite a while and u get many different flavours... You can evebn spray it on lures!

Hi guys,

I don't really want to get into this topic.

Please make sure that the scents and sauces you are putting on to your baits are compatible.

Otherwise use the gulp spray like Walkerskiller said.
It's non toxic and biodegradable, does not do damage to silicone plastics and can be used on all your softys, lures and even on natural bait.

Flavors that I would suggest are Crawfish, Crab, Herring, Shrimp and my personal favorite Squid - it smells a bit more than the others.

You can spray it on, or pour it in a container and soak your lures in it.

Happy hunting

I dont rate the McCarthy worms at all - I tested them.....was catching blacktails cast for cast with Berkley camo - then put on McCarthy and then nothing - back to Berkley...and the fish were on again.

I see there is a garlic scented one as well. Anyone ever tried it?

Hi Generaal,

Yes, there is a garlic and nightcrawler.
They are better suited to freshwater angling but the garlic could be used in the salt as well.

The reason we use garlic, is that when a fishes skin is broken, it then emits a chemical and this chemical actually smells similar to garlic.

But, the base of the sprays are all the same, so any one of them will work.
