Can anybody please give me advise on how to use dried bloodworms that I bought at my local tackle shop? And would it be possable to put up some pics in how present the bait with other baits or just alone. They are about 5 to 6 cm long.

i also bought one this weekend. the package says soak in sea water for 20minutes but i read somewere that its better to soak for about 45minutes.

just cut them up into small pieces the size of your hook and thread it on

Great catches have been made on these worms, including people from Bloem that I know of. He is in one of the clubs in bloem, had a comp in the Transkei somewhere and caught 7 species on the dynabait worms, including the biggest bronze bream for the comp. When they came back they bought the whole shelf-box from the tackleshop.

I am soaking a few now and will do a presentation in about an hour.

Right, all the hooks used in the presentation are 2/0's. Bigger sizes just use up more bait (expensive), so for the purposes of the presentation I am keeping it small.

Success has also been had with dynabait combo baits, prawn + dynabait, chokka + dynabait and chokka with dynabait beaten into it for flavour.

The three baits I made are the ones that I would normally use.

Bait number one is the plain and simple normal worm bait where the worm is threaded up the hook. I found however that this is not the most effective way of putting on the dynabait worms, rather use the other 2 examples in the presentation. The only place where I will use this presentation is in estuaries if the water is clear and with this one I would rather use the tube worm than the blood worm.

Bait number two is my favourite in and around the rocks and gullies. Deadly for galjoen, blacktail, bronze bream and other rocky critters. You can either use a few broken pieces or a whole worm. You simply zig-zag the hook through the worm and bunch it up. You can also use some thin cotton with this bait, especially if you have peckers around.

Bait number 3 is my favourite by far, especially from the beaches where cob, steenies and bellman are targeted. Start by threading a small piece onto the shank of the hook as a base. Fold a longer piece in two with the ends dangling down, put it over the base and cotton it up neatly. I have found that the thin latex works very well.

Jean,

Where in the Garden Route area can we buy Dynabait??? I have tried the shops in Sedgefield and Knysna over the last few months - no luck.

Particularly in Sedgefield, where the water level is too high in the lagoon for anyone to reach any sort of bait (Mouth still closed), this product would be great to have and there surely will be a good market for it.

And how long do they last in the water - specifically,if I was to drift it behind the kayak in the lagoon, same as the normal worm or not?

Check our website for dealers, struggling to get into knysna as they say there is enough worms and they are easy to collect. The old man from Sedgefield said that he will be stocking it over the holiday season. The closest should be plett and george. If you are drifting with the bait, use presentation 3 as it is more durable
