Dear All, firstly my best seasonals from lush Luanda. May your season be save, family all around and healthy, and may teh new year bring prosperity... not surprises like 2008...
Sunday my Cdre and I took the families on a treat. We chartered the "Troublemaker" on a particularly calm day. Waters like frozen over at 28 Celsius, air 33.... man paradise.
Leaving port Luanda unhastedly at 09h15 we took a turn 30nm North to find flying fish abundant... but Marlin & Co still stuffed from breakfast. The Chugger/Ballyhoo combo on the shotgun opened the party at 13h30 eventually, 4kgs Dorado, which would remain only the second smallest that Sunday. We decided to turn South 280/300 and found a mayor upwelling, Sails and Marlin sighted in it, but Dorados always a bit faster than the Alpha Predators... no problem though with X-mas coming up. At one time we hooked into 4 decent Dorados and after weaving the 80lbs carpet... boarded 3. Two of which were Bulls in the 15kgs range. With four fish in the bag for three families and another picked up by some palm branches, we stopped at driftwood for chunking. A nice lady Dorado took the offerings in no time, but sliced through the 40lbs hardmono leader after a short intense fight. Her mate was boarded quickly by junior angler Sacha. Allin all more sightings of yellow fin and sailfish followed, but we didnt convert. No need the dorado bag of just under 50kgs was reason enough to celebrate at the boat house.
Once again the "Troublemaker" and Captain Anginho turn out to be a bank.
Manganga, the proud owner of Troublemaker and some more yachts, will start a charter office at the Luanda Clube Nautico in January. I recon we will be regulars in his office...
