Guys Im still looking for aboat. What is your opinion on Dolphin Supreme 15'6 with 2 x30 mariners 2006 model.
What can I pay if the boat is neat?
Can i use it for 5nm?
Can I ski with it in Gauteng?

The reason Im looking at that one:
Its light to tow.
I can finance it if Im happy with its capabilities.
I wanted to spend +_ R60k.
Good allrounder.

Thanx
Nadeem.

Thanks Guys.

I thought the price bracket was right for the boat as I have to take cash which is limited at the time. My only concerns are as follows;
  1. How strong are those 30 hp motors in the bay. I dont really plan any surf launching in near future. I only have 1nm at the moment. Will upgrade next year for 5nm and beach launching.
    [/*]
  2. Can it pull a wakeboard on the Reef. I had a Baronet 16ft cabin with a 60 and it battled to pull skis.[/*]
  3. How stable is it on the swells say at Rooiels? I had a old Magson 17ft with 2 x 60 on , but it towed too heavy.[/*]
  4. The motors dont have electric trim and tilt, only manual. Has done 300hrs.
    [/*]
  5. The boat has seaworthy but buoyancy? expires  December. How much is it to renew?[/*]
  6. Boat was last serviced December2010. How much to service now and where do i take it in Cape Town area.[/*]
I just want a boat that fulfill that dual role of bayfishing/ behind breakers and a bit of skiing in Gauteng.

Dolphin hull - very good and cabable hull for sea/ski /bay , this type of boat(15-16ft mono) I have owned a few (coast craft/Ace Craft/ SeaStar/Baronet) with power ranging between 2x40- 2x60 motors.

With 2x30's it will go OK in the Salt , the moment you go to freshwater/altitude you will get on the plain with 3 up  but 4up or 2up and a skier may find you a bit underpower.

2x40hp 3cyl should be par ,but a set of 50hp yamaha's will be the bees knees, 60's too strong.  Trim tilt is nice but not critical for what you want to use the boat for .
