Its a Blue Marlin rod, HMG, reckon it should be good for a 6-7 oz sinker? It should be 430cm long? Not sure if that is just the blank or if it includes butting. No experience with these rods, maybe someone else can add more info. BM have a very cryptic website, I am not sure if it is to add an air of mystique to their rods.
It is manufactured in south africa by the Blue Marlin compny which is our leading rod blank manufacturer
HMG (High, Modulus, Graphite) it is a criss quick blank that is light and powerful and will cast a 4-7oz weight with a bait and is used in surf and rock fishing for Kob and Steenbras (on your side of the Atlantic - for Drum, Stripers and Big bluefish) it is a rod built with a low reel seat position for casting with a multiplier and for bait fishing
Don't know of many online sites in RSA marketing Blue Marlin, you might find it or a variant at www.basilmanning.co.za
This is how we fish here in South Africa with overhead reels (Multipliers) and for shark fishing we also keep the Spinning reel seat low. It helps to keep your hands below your heart to lessen fatgue when in a prolonged fight or fishing in rough and hard conditions with the rod in hand all day
Low reel seat position is the way we fish as we fish rough conditions and it's been done like that for years.
Many anglers fishing for large game fish and sharks with spinning reels also fish with low reel seats.
It helps to have your hands below you heart in prolonged fights as having your hands up high for 2 -4 hours drains the blood and fatigues the hands and forearms.
tournament distance castes mount their reels low on the rod
