the unfortunate thing is that doctored photos of huge carp like this has caused alot of controversy etc. locally in the past. And with so many stories of huge carp, but with no proof, one cannot help but be sceptical... Recently we were also caught out by a fellow angler, having someone doctor a photo so that it looks like he was holding a 50lb'er at the venue we've been targeting... The photo looked very real, and offcourse we sucked it in. Until eventually we found out through someone else that it was a fake, and shortly after he admitted it. So I cant help but treat such local monster carp photos with a little suspicion at first....
Naruto, you pic above actually makes it look ever worse, lol!! The photo in the mag looks abit more believable...
I dont know if the above pic is real or edited, but if you look at it you cannot help but wonder about things like why the fish is so lit up by the flash, but the guy is not, or that the light on his face and clothes comes from the left instead of from the camera? But that is just my opinion, I wasnt there when the fish was caught... if it's truly a 23kg then well done to the angler, that is really something special to catch from Harties. I have no doubt that there are 20kg+ and bigger fish in Harties, as there's been 50's caught on the old papgooi methods in the 70's at this dam.
However I think the best way to get to the monsters at Harties would be to fish it like the Europeans fishes waters. Prebait the crap out of the place and fish at least 2-week long sessions. I'll put money on that!!!!!
