Do shark fishing activities keep eds away from a spot

Any thoughts on the above question ,I used to catch lots of edibles at Fish Point for example now days the only thing to catch there is Raggies ,is this because of all the shark fishing activity ,do they hang around a area waiting for the next easy meal???

Snaaks genoeg het ek ook aan dieselfde ding gedink gister toe ons daar verby loop. Da was redelik baie ouens wat gegooi het vir Sharks.

In my humble opinion probably not.

If they are there they hunting something..surely edds of some sort cannot be rulled out.

Ive seen Dolphns schooling fish to shore and making life easier for anglers.

I dont think so , eds and non eds have been living together for ever , if you look at the tv programs the eds feed just as hard when given a free meal by divers , I think they have just been caught.Peckers eat the bait also

The things is like Fish point ,you can use a old broom handle as bait and you will catch only rags

A couple of months ago a fishing friend and I were catching kob early morning from the reefs. About an hour after the tide turn, the kob came on the bite, but two seals also entered the scene and actively hunted in exactly the same spot we casted.

They caught two smallish kob and a skaamhaai while we were watching. During that feeding spree the kob kept on biting, albeit quite tentatively. The seals pushed them very close to the edge of the reef and we ended up casting less than twenty metres from where we stood.

yes and no and it depends on the fish and the place... On the deep sea yes... A white shark or even other can easily scare a hole shoal of kob away...

From the side I have caught bronzies and cob at the same place and on the same time. Minutes apart...

But think it is quite debatable.

Not that I have "seen" the truth to my statement.

This is what happened.

We were fishing in Strand and the fish, Elf, were biting. It was a matter of cast for cast. Then all went "quiet" Strangely the fish disappeared. My buddy then almost had his rod pulled out of his hand. He was fishing with 60lbs steel. He was bitten off though. Nothing was caught for a while after that.

No, I don't think so.
There's no way recreational fisherman put enough bait in the water to keep sharks hanging around waiting to be fed. Gonubie point gets 10 times as much bait put in the water as Fish Point yet Fish Point produces 100x more sharks than Gonubie. Why? Because sharks naturally come to Fish Point to feed whether or not there are fisherman there. On the other hand all the shark baits in the water at Gonubie Point can't attract any decent number of sharks.
I would also never fish for eds where we catch the sharks at Fish Point.
The sharks are feeding on eds and small non-eds so eds and non-eds are often not to far apart but the imo they will normally be a bit apart.
